Popular faith-based series “The Chosen” is set to premiere its entire fourth season in theaters, following the success of screening three episodes of its third season on the big screen last year. Director Dallas Jenkins expressed the overwhelming desire of fans for more theatrical experiences.
The collaboration with Fathom Events will see the first three episodes of season four hitting theaters on Feb. 1, 2024, running for two weeks. Subsequently, episodes four to six will be released on Feb. 15, followed by the final two episodes on Feb. 29. Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Events, emphasized the power of the big screen to unite people in a communal experience. The faith-based series explores the life of Jesus through those close to him, and season four promises to continue where the emotional finale of the previous season left off.
The trailer, released on Monday, hinted at clashing kingdoms, rival rulers, and the enemies of Jesus closing in, leaving his followers struggling to keep up. Season four is expected to delve into the burden that Jesus carries alone. The decision to screen the entire season in theaters before other platforms aims to provide fans with a shared experience of laughter and tears.
The first two episodes of season three premiered in theaters last year, ranking No. 3 at the box office opening weekend. They were later released for free streaming on the show’s app, accompanied by a message encouraging viewers to pay it forward.
