Pop star Jessica Simpson, at the age of 43, has been making waves in the media recently due to her temporary relocation to Nashville with her husband, Eric Johnson, and their three children: Maxwell Drew (11), Ace Knute (10), and Birdie Mae (4). The move to Music City USA, while not permanent, has brought joy and contentment to the Simpson family.
During a recent PetSafe event in Los Angeles celebrating National Dog Day, Simpson opened up about her Nashville experience. She expressed how her children had noticed her increased happiness while in Nashville, remarking, “You laugh the whole time. You’re so happy.” Simpson attributed this newfound happiness to the relaxed atmosphere in Nashville, where she feels less guarded and more surrounded by like-minded individuals who value music, heart, and genuine conversations over the glitz and glamour of celebrity life.
“It’s because I’m not on guard,” Simpson said. “I’m with a lot of like-minded people. It’s not about the celebrities—it’s really about the music and the heart and the conversation.”
Simpson also shared some humorous anecdotes about her time in Nashville, highlighting the down-to-earth lifestyle she’s embraced. She revealed how she ingeniously used thumbtacks to hang curtains, ensuring she wouldn’t be awakened by the early morning sun. She even humorously confessed to assembling a TV with nothing more than a butter knife after mistakenly shopping for lip gloss at Walgreens instead of a screwdriver.
While Simpson has taken an extended break from performing, she hinted at her return to music with newfound confidence. She expressed that she is no longer nervous about it and knows exactly what she wants. In her own words, “I’m building my own platform. I’m doing it for the first time—the way I would—without a label telling me I need to do this song or use this producer. It’s all me.”
Simpson’s decision to relocate to Nashville temporarily aligns with a broader trend among celebrities. Many have spoken out about their positive experiences moving away from the entertainment hub of Los Angeles. Stars like Katy Perry, Matthew McConaughey, James Van Der Beek, Chris Hemsworth, and podcaster Joe Rogan have all made similar moves to different states in search of a different pace of life and new creative opportunities.
