Television host, comedian, writer, actor, and the former host of NBC’s The Tonight Show was involved in a freak accident that left him with burns on his face.
Avid car enthusiast, Jay Leno needed some time to recover following an accident with one of his cars that gave him “serious” facial burns, however, he stated that he is “OK.”
Leno, 72, told Page Six in a statement, “I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am OK. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.”
Apparently, Leno was in his Los Angeles garage where he stores dozens of prized vehicles when one of them burst into flames.
Sources reported that the explosion severely burned the left side of Leno’s face but thankfully did not cause damage to his eye or ear.
Leno was transported to LA’s Grossman Burn Center for treatment.
Leno was scheduled to perform at the Financial Brand Forum 2022, however, he was forced to cancel according to an email sent to the conference’s attendees.
“His family was not able to provide us very many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that is preventing Jay from traveling. All we know is that he is alive, so our prayers go out to him and his family tonight,” read the notice, which was obtained by People.

As reported on Bar Stool Sports,
Jay tells TMZ from his hospital bed … he was working on his 1907 White Steam Car in his famed garage this past Saturday, fixing a clogged fuel line. He says there was a fuel leak and gasoline sprayed on his face and hands. Almost simultaneously a spark triggered an explosion, setting the comedian on fire.
Jay says his quick-thinking buddy Dave was right there and jumped on him, quickly smothering the flames.
