“A Quiet Place” actress, Emily Blunt felt the need to clarify a statement she gave regarding a comment Tom Cruise said to her during their film, “Edge of Tomorrow.”
In an earlier interview, Blunt recalled a moment when Cruise gave her some tough love advice and said, “Come on, stop being such a p—y, OK?”
The comment was made to Blunt after she got into her 85lb suit for their movie. Blunt said, “It was so heavy that the first time I put it on, I just started to cry. I just started to cry in front of Tom.”
She continued by saying, “And I was like, ‘Tom, I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this shoot,’ and I started to cry. I was like, ‘I’m just feeling a bit panicky about the whole shoot.’”
Cruise,60, who has done his fair share of death-defying stunts, felt the need that some strong words were needed for the situation. Blunt said, “He literally goes — he stared at me for a long time not knowing what to do — and he goes, ‘Come on, stop being such a p—y, OK?’”
Blunt laughed, adding that Cruise’s advice allowed them to get “through it.”
Readers initially did not appreciate the comment made by cruise. However, Blunt had her own thoughts to say and clarified in a statement to E! News on Dec. 12.
Blunt said her story was “taken literally and absurdly out of context” by listeners.
“It’s ludicrous that it’s being spun as something that offended me,” Blunt said. “It didn’t. I shared the story as lightheartedly as it was meant by Tom.”
Blunt, 39, said she and Cruise have no bad blood but are “dear friends.”
“I absolutely adore Tom, he’s a dear friend and he was a total gem to me,” she said. “It was said as a joke to make me laugh, which it did in a big way. And it’s still something we laugh about to this day.”
