Britney Spears and her husband, Sam Asghari, have hit back at sensationalized reports that the pop star had a “meltdown” at a restaurant. Asghari took to his Instagram Stories on Saturday night to defend his wife, writing, “Don’t believe what you read online people.”
The reports of a meltdown came after TMZ published a story claiming that Spears was “acting manic” and “talking gibberish” at Joey in Woodland Hills, Calif., while out to dinner with Asghari on Friday night. In the video, Spears seems to be saying some incoherent words and shielded her face from the camera with a menu.
A manager at Joey previously told Page Six that they could not “disclose any information” about the celebrity couple’s visit. However, an employee has since stated that the “disruptor wasn’t Britney,” but rather the person filming her without her consent. The employee also said that Asghari “only left briefly to get their car, but he did not storm out.”
Spears initially addressed the incident by giving the middle finger in an Instagram video and then wrote on Sunday night, “I know the news is all hyped about me being a little drunk at a restaurant … it’s like they’ll be WATCHING MY EVERY MOVE !!! I’m so flattered they talk about me like a maniac THEN have the balls to talk about all the negative things that happened in my past !!!”
The Grammy winner spent nearly 14 years under a conservatorship, which allowed her now-estranged father, Jamie Spears, to control her personal, medical, and financial affairs.
Spears was released from a conservatorship in November 2021.
Spears has been thrust into the spotlight recently with a lot of alarm surrounding her behavior from her own various social media posts. However, Spears seems to have chaos surrounding her as she continues to deal with tumultuous relationships, her battle with addiction, and her mental health issues.
