“Today” show and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade staple Al Roker is back home after being in and out of the hospital for serious medical issues.
Roker was originally admitted to the hospital in November due to a blood clot that had traveled to his lungs. He was released on Thanksgiving Day, however, returned to the hospital just two days later.
Roker announced recently that he was back home yet again- hopefully without any further complications.
“Home! So incredibly grateful to family, friends, medical folks, @todayshow family, and all your thoughts and prayers,” he wrote on Instagram.

On Monday, Roker, met virtually with his “Today” show colleagues from his kitchen to discuss his hospital stay and when he might be able to return to the show.
“It’s been a tough slog. I’m not going to deny this,” he said. “It’s been the hardest one yet and you know I’ve had my share of surgeries.”
“But it gives you a profound sense of gratitude for this outpouring of prayers and thanks. I’m a very fortunate person,” he continued.

When Kotb asked about when he might be coming back, Roker said he has to get his strength back.
Roker said, “You lose a certain amount of muscle mass for every week you are in the hospital. I was in the hospital for four weeks,” adding that he is working with physical and occupational therapists to help regain his strength.
But, he added, he feels good. “I feel strong and every day I feel a little bit better” and then stated that he made dinner the previous night.
Roker’s medical conditions caused him to miss hosting this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Nov. 24, making it his first absence in 26 years.
