As he took the stage, he was met with thunderous applause from the audience, and he took a moment to thank the fans for their support. “Gotta say, it feels good to be back,” Renner said. “This year’s been a heck of a journey and I’m happy to be here with you, the fans.”
After presenting the award for TV performance of the year to Billie Eilish, Renner was seen stepping away to hug Hiddleston, who was also in attendance at the awards ceremony. Later in the night, Hiddleston took the stage to accept the award for sci-fi/fantasy show of the year for his role in the second season of his Marvel/Disney+ series, Loki. During his acceptance speech, Hiddleston thanked his fiancée Zawe Ashton and reflected on the 14 years he has spent playing the villainous character.

“I have played Loki for 14 years, and the journey has meant the world to me,” Hiddleston said. “I couldn’t have done it without you; your passion, your curiosity, and your love for Loki is the reason I’m standing here.”
Renner and Hiddleston’s working relationship with Marvel dates back to the early days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Renner’s character Hawkeye first appeared in 2011’s Thor, which also introduced audiences to Hiddleston’s character Loki. The two characters further crossed paths in 2012’s The Avengers, where Loki brainwashed Hawkeye into becoming a secondary antagonist for the rest of the team to fight.
Both actors have also ventured into the world of streaming television with their own spinoff series on Disney+. Hiddleston’s series, Loki, saw the mischievous character traveling through dimensions and timelines, while Renner’s series, Hawkeye, focused on his character mentoring a young protégé. While the finale of Loki left the fate of Hiddleston’s character up in the air, Renner expressed his willingness to return to the role of Hawkeye in the future.
“I’m always game,” Renner told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready.”
Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were thrilled to see Renner and Hiddleston reconnect at the People’s Choice Awards and have been eagerly anticipating their return to their respective roles.
