Actor Was Really Trying To Be A Super Hero But It Cost Him Big

On New Year’s Day, Hollywood star Jeremy Renner was involved in a horrific accident in Lake Tahoe, California, when a 14,000-pound snow plow he was operating unexpectedly began sliding and rolled over him, leaving him with 30 broken bones.

Renner, an actor best known for his roles in The Avengers and The Bourne Legacy, was attempting to save his nephew when the accident occurred. According to a Nevada sheriff’s office incident report, Renner had used the snow plow to pull his nephew’s truck out of the snow, and the vehicle began sliding sideways without its parking brake being engaged. Renner attempted to stop the snow plow but was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.

A report obtained by CNN stated, “Although the PistenBully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the PistenBully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the PistenBully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.”

The actor was airlifted to the hospital, where he underwent at least two surgeries and spent more than two weeks in recovery.

In the days following the accident, Renner shared a photo of himself during a physical therapy session, as well as a video of his sister and mother pampering him with a scalp massage. He has also stated that it will take up to two years for him to recover from the blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries he sustained in the accident.

On Saturday, the actor remained hopeful that the “30 plus broken bones will mend, grow stronger, just like the love and bond with family and friends deepens.”

Renner is the oldest of seven siblings, the youngest of whom was born in 2011.
