Beloved supermodel Christie Brinkley is celebrating a very special milestone – her 70th birthday. The iconic model, who has graced over 500 magazine covers and made history numerous times throughout her career, is taking a moment to reflect on her life and career as she enters a new decade. Brinkley has been celebrating in Turks & Caicos with her two children, and has been reminiscing about the past and looking forward to the future.
The 70-year-old beauty, who exudes grace and elegance, shared a series of photos on her Instagram page on Wednesday from her beach vacation. She can be seen sitting on a cabana, smiling under a balloon arch and banner, with her kids by her side. Brinkley captioned the post, “We made it here just in time for a golden sunset at lucky house. And swipe to see what the kids did to our living room so I don’t forget I’m turning 70 on Friday! Isn’t that S W E E T!!!!”
In an interview with People earlier this year, Brinkley admitted that turning 70 has made her reflect on her life and think about all the things she still wants to accomplish. She shared, “I still have to see India. I’ve never been to Tahiti or Thailand.
I want to go to Bali also. I’ve got to do an eat, pray, love.” The model also revealed that she is approaching her milestone birthday with “reverence and emotion,” and that it is similar to how she felt when she turned 50, taking a moment to look back on her life and look forward to what is to come.
Despite initially planning to throw “a big blowout” party, Brinkley’s busy schedule has not allowed for it. However, she says she is fine with a more low-key celebration. The multi-talented model has been juggling many successful businesses alongside her modeling career. Brinkley has created a line of beauty products, a wine label, a hair extension line, eyeglasses, and a lifestyle and apparel brand called Twrhll, which she recently announced in a partnership with Xcel Brands.
Brinkley, who was discovered by an American photographer in Paris in 1973 while she was studying abroad, has come a long way in the fashion industry. She has graced the cover of several popular magazines, including Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and Cosmopolitan, and was the first model to appear on three consecutive covers of Sports Illustrated in 1979, 1980, and 1981. She also made her mark in Hollywood with her on-screen debut in the 1983 movie “National Lampoon’s Vacation” alongside Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo.
Aside from her successful career, Brinkley’s personal life has also been in the spotlight. She has been married four times and has three children – Alexa, Jack, and Sailor. She was married to French artist Jean-François Allaux from 1973 to 1981, followed by a brief relationship with Olivier Chandon de Brailles. The couple split in 1994, and their divorce was finalized in August of that year. Brinkley then married real estate developer Richard Taubman in December 1994 and they divorced less than a year later after welcoming their son Jack.
