Zachery Ty Bryan, once beloved as the mischievous Brad Taylor on “Home Improvement”, has found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The actor, now 42, was arrested on January 1 following allegations of domestic violence.
According to a police report obtained by Fox News Digital, Bryan is accused of choking and repeatedly punching an unidentified woman during a domestic altercation.
The incident was severe enough for a third party to call 911, describing Bryan’s actions as an “attack” and even claiming he “tried to kill” the woman.
When police arrived at the scene in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, they observed visible injuries, including bruising and swelling on the woman’s face. She also revealed to officers that she shared a home and children with the actor.
This arrest is not Bryan’s first brush with the law over similar allegations. In July 2023, the actor was taken into custody in Eugene, Oregon, after another domestic dispute. He faced charges of fourth-degree assault, though a plea deal reduced his sentence to just seven days in jail.
This pattern of troubling behavior follows years of legal issues, including multiple DUIs. Most recently, in October 2024, Bryan was arrested in Oklahoma for driving under the influence after being found asleep in his Range Rover by the side of the road.
Once a promising young actor with a career spanning roles in “Smallville”, “E.R.”, and even his own production company, Bryan’s personal life appears to have spiraled.
His former co-star, Tim Allen, commented in 2023 about Bryan’s struggles, expressing dismay at how the actor had veered from the person he once knew.
Allen noted, “At a certain point, he deviated from the guy I know to somebody who is reacting to situations that I had nothing to do with and can’t control.”
For a man who grew up in the public eye and enjoyed early success, these recent events paint a stark contrast to the image many fans remember.
