Rita Moreno recently shared her first impressions after meeting actor Jason Momoa at the TIME Women of the Year Gala. Moreno, 91, said that Momoa, 43, was “the world’s tallest person” and that she was “literally talking to his belt”. Momoa is more than a foot taller than Moreno, who stars in the new installment of the Fast & Furious franchise alongside Momoa.
“Jason Momoa is the world’s tallest person. When I met him while I was there doing the film in England, I was actually talking to his belt,” Moreno jokingly told E! News.
“That man is so damn tall, literally. I mean he’s like way up here and you’re sort of looking at his belt and then go, ‘Hey, it’s me, Rita,'” she continued.
The tenth installment of the franchise, Fast X, will feature Moreno as Vin Diesel’s grandmother and Momoa as a villain seeking revenge for wrongs done to him by Diesel’s character Dominic Toretto. The trailer for the film debuted in February and includes throwback footage of the late Paul Walker.
Momoa previously talked about his role as a villain telling Entertainment Tonight, “It’s fun, I get to play the bad guy, which I haven’t got to do for a while. Now I’m gonna be the bad boy — the very flamboyant bad boy. You know, a little panache.”
The big-budget movie also stars Charlize Theron, Brie Larson, John Cena, Jason Statham, Helen Mirren, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris. Moreno revealed that she is a “text buddy” of Ludacris and a few other people in the cast.
The movie is directed by Louis Leterrier (Transporter, The Incredible Hulk). Co-writer Justin Lin was originally set to direct but announced in April that he was stepping down from the job. Lin had previously directed five movies in the franchise, including 2021’s F9.
Fans of the franchise have been eagerly awaiting the release of Fast X and the team behind the movie is hoping that it will be a success. The movie is set to be released in theaters in May 2021. With two big stars like Moreno and Momoa, as well as an all-star cast, the movie is sure to be an exciting and entertaining addition to the Fast & Furious franchise.
