Silas “Uncle Si” Robertson, the lovable and quirky fan favorite from “Duck Dynasty”, is on the mend after a harrowing accident during a hunting trip landed him in the hospital. At 76, Uncle Si may be slowing down in some ways, but his latest adventure proves that he’s still as tough and resilient as ever.
The accident occurred while Si was hunting with his “Duck Dynasty” co-stars Justin Martin and Phillip McMillan. As Justin recounted during the January 23 episode of the “Duck Call Room” podcast, Si’s fall happened when he was trying to hustle out of a boat and up a steep hill.
True to his stubborn, no-fuss nature, Uncle Si got right back up despite the tumble—mud-covered and all. He even tried to laugh it off, brushing aside any offers of help. However, things took a concerning turn as the day went on, with Si growing unusually quiet and refusing pain medication.
The group’s fears intensified when a caretaker noticed his oxygen levels dropping dangerously low later in the day. Si, who uses an oxygen machine due to preexisting health issues, was rushed to the hospital.
Doctors quickly ruled out broken ribs but identified bruising from the fall and suspected that panic attacks may have further complicated his oxygen levels. After spending three days in the ER, Si was discharged and is now recovering at home.
This accident came just days after “Duck Dynasty” fans were treated to the exciting news that the beloved reality series will be revived on A&E after more than eight years off the air. The original show, which aired from 2012 to 2017, became a cultural phenomenon, peaking at a whopping 11.8 million viewers and turning the Robertson family into household names.
The revival, set to premiere this summer, will follow the Robertson clan as they navigate new challenges, family ventures, and, of course, their signature misadventures. Uncle Si is set to make an appearance in the reboot, much to fans’ delight.
Despite the scare, Uncle Si’s trademark resilience—and sense of humor—shone through even in this ordeal.
His hunting companions Justin and Phillip were quick to remind listeners on the podcast that “things can go sideways pretty fast out there,” but if anyone can bounce back from a muddy tumble, it’s Uncle Si. Fans across the country are surely wishing him a speedy recovery and eagerly awaiting his return to the screen later this year.
So here’s to Uncle Si—mud-covered, oxygen machine in tow, and all. You can’t keep a Robertson down for long.
