Either way, Sunday’s practice was anything but business as usual.
And right in the thick of it? None other than rookie “James Pearce, Jr.” — the 6’5″, 245-pound edge rusher who clearly did “not” get the memo about Coach Raheem Morris’ “no fighting” policy.
Pearce made his presence known early and often, mixing it up with “both” right tackle “Kaleb McGary” and left guard “Matthew Bergeron” — not once, but “multiple times”. Let’s just say things got spicy real fast.
While quarterback “Michael Penix, Jr.” was taking snaps and trying to get some clean reps in, Pearce was busy playing enforcer. At one point, even veteran pass rusher “Leonard Floyd” jumped in to stir the pot.
That turned the heat up a few notches and gave fans a real preview of what this defense might look like: intense, physical, and maybe a little too eager to throw down.
Now, some folks are chalking this up to passion. Defensive coordinator “Jeff Ulbrich” even said as much — calling it “acts of passion” — but also made it clear that Pearce and company “crossed the line”. Translation: the coaches are here for the energy, just not the chaos.

Look — Pearce, Jr. might be raw, but he’s clearly got that dog in him. And if the Falcons can channel that fire into something productive? Oh boy, NFC South better buckle up. But for now? Let’s maybe keep the pads popping “during” plays… not in between.
