We’re talking about a large Christian revival led by some of the university’s star football players—a night filled with faith, community, and a whole lot of inspiration.
So, what exactly happened? Well, it turns out that Ohio State’s very own football stars—running back TreVeyon Henderson, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau, and former wide receiver Kamryn Babb—took the lead in hosting a massive revival service on campus.
And when we say massive, we mean it. The event drew between 800 and 1,000 people, and by the end of the night, dozens of students had made the decision to be baptized.
The revival was organized in collaboration with local churches, who set up four large tubs filled with water right there on campus. The energy was palpable as the OSU players shared their personal stories of faith in Jesus, and the crowd joined in singing worship songs that filled the night with hope and unity.
Kamryn Babb, who’s faced an incredibly challenging journey with four ACL injuries cutting short his playing career, shared a moving testimony about how he discovered the depth of God’s love and grace. He opened up about a time when he didn’t realize how “broken” he was, describing how God’s love wrapped around him like a blanket, bringing healing and wholeness to his life.
“I was just doing my thing because it was fun,” Babb told the crowd, reflecting on his past. “But at the same time, I didn’t recognize my condition. I was spiritually dead. I could go out there, and I could smile and laugh … but on the inside, I was broken.”
It wasn’t just Babb’s story that resonated with the crowd. After the players shared their messages, around 50 attendees joined them on stage to pray—a moment that led many to take a step further in their faith journey. By the end of the night, approximately 60 students made the decision to be baptized, stepping into those water-filled tubs as a public declaration of their new-found or deepened faith.
As the night drew to a close, the impact of the event was clear. Emeka Egbuka, who is set to be a standout receiver in the upcoming season, spoke about how they had been praying for something like this to happen for years. “We serve a miracle-working God,” Egbuka said. “So we definitely had an expectation when it came out, but God did increasingly and abundantly more than what we thought. So, we’re just blessed and thankful.”
J.T. Tuimoloau and TreVeyon Henderson echoed this sentiment, with Henderson even saying that no achievement on the football field could compare to what happened that night. “Whatever I’ve done, this right here—what God is doing—is so much more important and so much bigger,” Henderson remarked, emphasizing the true significance of the event.
