Actor Jeremy Renner recently underwent surgery after being involved in a snowplow accident on his property in Reno, Nevada.
“At approximately 9:00 am on January 1, 2023, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a traumatic injury in the area of Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada,” according to a news release.
“Upon arrival, Deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Mr. Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital,” the statement continued.
Renner’s rep released a statement to PEOPLE saying that he had “suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and has undergone surgery, January 2nd, 2023. He has returned from surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition.”

On Thursday, he shared a video to his Instagram Story where his sister could be seen massaging his head and making Renner laugh. He captioned the video as a “spa moment to lift my spirits.”
“He’s so sexy, yeah,” Renner’s sister could be heard joking in the video. “Literally, look at all that blood,” she added, as Renner stated that the “spa moment” was his first time bathing since a 14,330-lb snowplow injured him while he cleared snow from his property on New Year’s Day. “First shower in definitely a week or so,” he said. “Gross!”
The Hawkeye actor celebrated his 52nd birthday on Saturday and posted an image on his Instagram Story surrounded by hospital staff alongside a message of gratitude.
“Thank you renowned medical ICU team for beginning this journey,” he wrote alongside the image with a series of prayer emojis beneath the photo.
