Jay Leno’s Says He Injured His Face After A Fall

Jay Leno is proving once again that resilience is his specialty. For the third consecutive year, the 74-year-old comedian and former *Tonight Show* host has bounced back from a serious injury—this time courtesy of an unexpected tumble down a steep hill.

Despite the mishap, Leno’s commitment to his craft remains unshaken, with performances continuing as planned.

The incident occurred just hours before Leno was set to perform at the Palace Theatre in Pittsburgh.

Opting for what he thought was a quicker route to dinner, Leno misjudged the terrain, leading to a dramatic 60-foot fall, during which he collided with several rocks.

Speaking to TMZ, Leno recounted the accident with his trademark humor, flipping up his eye patch to reveal a significant bruise. “I fell down, just boom, boom, boom,” he joked. Along with the eye injury, he also broke his wrist and lost a nail, describing himself as being “all black and blue.”

Even with his injuries, the show went on. Sporting an eye patch, Leno performed for the 2,600 fans who had gathered in Pittsburgh, a testament to his enduring work ethic. “The show must go on,” he told TMZ, emphasizing his dedication to delivering laughs no matter the circumstances.

Leno’s recent fall adds to a growing list of injuries in recent years. In early 2023, he sustained a broken collarbone, two broken ribs, and two cracked kneecaps after a motorcycle crash.

True to form, he shrugged off the severity of the accident, telling the “Las Vegas Review-Journal” at the time, “I’m working this weekend.”

Just months before that, Leno suffered second- and third-degree burns in a fire accident at his garage in Burbank. While working on a vintage car, a fuel mishap caused him to be briefly engulfed in flames. Despite the gravity of the situation, Leno returned to performing shortly after receiving treatment.

The comedian’s ability to bounce back has become part of his legend. Whether it’s burns, crashes, or falls, Leno seems to have mastered the art of turning misfortune into material. As he demonstrated yet again, even a 60-foot tumble can’t keep this comedy icon off the stage.
