Jay Leno Suffered Another Horrifying Accident

Jay Leno was recently released from the hospital from yet another vehicle accident. The 72-year-old comic suffered serious injuries, this time in a motorcycle accident- the second major accident Leno has suffered in the last three months.

Leno revealed to the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he had suffered a broken collarbone, two broken ribs, and two cracked kneecaps. Despite the injury, and the fact that he had to cancel the past two Sunday shows at the Comedy & Magic Club, he was back on stage this past Sunday.

The accident was due to a wire that had been strung across a parking lot with no flag hanging from it. Leno told the outlet the accident happened when he smelled leaking gas while testing a 1940 Indian motorcycle on Jan. 17.

“So I turned down a side street and cut through a parking lot, and unbeknownst to me, some guy had a wire strung across the parking lot but with no flag hanging from it,” he said. “So, you know, I didn’t see it until it was too late. It just clotheslined me and, boom knocked me off the bike.”

“I got knocked off my motorcycle,” he told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “So I’ve got a broken collarbone. I’ve got two broken ribs. I’ve got two cracked kneecaps.”

Leno tried to keep the incident quiet and said, “You know, after getting burned up, you get that one for free,” he said. “After that, you’re Harrison Ford, crashing airplanes. You just want to keep your head down.”

It’s not all good news for Jay Leno, however. His long-running series, Jay Leno’s Garage, has been canceled after seven seasons, according to a source at CNBC. However, Leno has been performing at the Comedy & Magic Club since 1992, when he took over as host of The Tonight Show, so he’s still got plenty of gigs lined up through April.
