Jennifer Garner is reportedly stepping back from any personal connection with Jennifer Lopez, opting to communicate solely when it involves her children with ex-husband Ben Affleck.
According to insiders, Garner has distanced herself following what some described as an overly involved role in attempting to mediate Lopez and Affleck’s rocky marriage before their divorce.
Sources revealed to “DailyMail.com” that Garner, 52, felt like a “pawn” during the turbulent period, even adopting the role of an unofficial “marriage counselor.”
Friends of the “Alias” actress expressed concerns about her involvement, with one insider noting, “Jen’s loyalty is to the father of her kids — Ben — and their children. She was too nice and truly wanted to help, but this was never her responsibility.”
Garner’s three children with Affleck — Violet (18), Seraphina (15), and Samuel (12) — remain her priority. Violet has notably maintained a close relationship with Lopez, spending time together in the Hamptons this past summer.
Most recently, Lopez’s sister, Lynda, visited Violet at Yale, an interaction Garner reportedly found “odd.” However, insiders affirm that Garner remains respectful, saying, “She would never badmouth JLo or speak negatively about her.”
This marks another chapter in Garner’s ongoing efforts to maintain stability in her family’s complex dynamic. Since her divorce from Affleck in 2018 after 13 years of marriage, the actress has focused on co-parenting while pursuing her own happiness.
Garner has been in a long-term relationship with businessman John Miller, and reports suggest the couple may be planning a wedding in Paris.
