Oh man, if you’ve ever thought your day was going badly, just imagine watching your “brand new” £700,000 yacht tip over like a clumsy toddler and vanish beneath the waves “15 minutes” after its big debut.
That’s right — the ‘Dolce Vento” (ironically translating to “Sweet Wind”) didn’t even make it out of the parking lot of the sea before pulling a Titanic move off the coast of northern Turkey.
So here’s what went down — literally. This beauty of a boat had just been delivered from Istanbul to its new owner and launched off the coast of Zonguldak’s Eregli district.
She was between 24 and 30 meters of handcrafted luxury, fresh off five months of shipyard labor at Med Yilmaz. The crowd was watching, the cameras were rolling, the wind was blowing just right… and then “bam” — she starts to tilt.
A luxury yacht worth 1 million dollars in Zonguldak sank just 15 minutes after being launched.

Footage shows passengers scrambling. One man, believed to be the owner, stands helplessly on the vessel’s edge before leaping into the sea, arms flailing, dignity optional. The captain and two crew members followed suit — all of them swimming frantically toward the shore just 200 meters away. Thankfully, nobody was hurt. Unless you count pride and a serious hit to the wallet.
Rescue teams and port authorities swooped in to secure the area and begin the grim task of recovering what’s now basically a very expensive artificial reef.
Technical teams are already investigating, and experts suspect a possible stability issue — maybe something with the “metacentric height”, which is a fancy naval engineering term for “your boat tips over if you mess this up.”
Now, we all love a luxury boat fantasy — sun, sea, champagne, maybe a few Instagram reels — but this? This is the stuff of boating nightmares.
And if this sounds like déjà vu, that’s because earlier this year another luxury yacht, “Amore Mio”, sank in Mexico during a New Year’s party cruise. That one crashed into rocks, sending bikini-clad revelers scrambling for safety.
