Deadly Candy Killing Children: Millions Recalled!

In a sobering turn of events, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has initiated a recall of over 70 million liquid roller candies after a 7-year-old girl tragically lost her life while consuming the product. The recall encompasses approximately 70 million units of Candy Dynamics’ “Slime Licker Sour Rolling Liquid Candy” and around 145,800 units of “Cocco Candy Rolling Candy” from Cocco Candy.

The CPSC’s decision to recall these products was prompted by a distressing incident involving the Cocco Candy Rolling Candy. The agency received a report detailing the death of a 7-year-old girl from New York, who choked and died after the candy’s rolling ball dislodged and became lodged in her throat.

While two incidents were reported with the Slime Licker Sour Rolling Liquid Candy, where the rolling ball was dislodged from the container, fortunately, no injuries were reported in those cases. However, due to the potential hazard posed by the rolling ball becoming a choking risk, the CPSC deemed it necessary to recall both products.

Parents are urged to immediately confiscate these candies from their children and reach out to the respective companies for a refund, provided the product is not devoid of liquid candy. Candy Dynamics is offering free shipping for those who wish to return the product.

The recall specifically targets the Cocco Candy Rolling Candy’s two-ounce containers, available in Sour Strawberry, Sour Tutti Frutti, and Sour Cola flavors, manufactured in Turkey. These candies were distributed nationwide and online by KGR Distribution Corp. between May 2022 and March 2023, retailing for approximately $2.50.

The Slime Licker Sour Rolling Liquid Candy, available in two-ounce and three-ounce containers with flavors like Blue Razz, Strawberry, Sour Apple, and Toxic Cherry, is also part of the recall. Sold in stores like Walmart, Five Below, Amazon, and other websites from June 2015 through July 2023, these candies ranged in price from $2 to $4.

Concerned consumers can find detailed information about the recall on the CPSC’s official website, emphasizing the critical need for swift action to prevent further tragedies and ensure public safety.
