Alright, country fans, grab your boots and fluff those pillows, because Dierks Bentley is getting “real” about what’s happening in his bedroom — and no, it’s not what you think.
The country crooner, known for hits like “Drunk on a Plane” and a beard that’s seen more miles than most of us, stirred up a little side-eye this week after dropping some eyebrow-raising tidbits on the “BobbyCast” podcast.
Among the revelations? He and his wife of 20 years, Cassidy Bentley, are currently sleeping in “separate rooms”. But before the tabloids start cooking up wild theories, Dierks hopped on Instagram with a photo of his bed — dog smack in the middle — and a cheeky caption to set the record straight.
Turns out the guy just “really” likes his sleep — or at least the “idea” of it. “I like bouncing around in my old single axle, leaf spring Chevy truck,” he wrote, “but we prefer ‘independent suspension’ when it comes to sleep.” That’s right. He just compared his bed to truck suspension. Welcome to country music, folks.
He went on to say his sleep setup is all about function: “two” platform beds, “two” mattresses, “two” duvets, and a floor-gap between his and Cassidy’s beds that you could drive a toy truck through. Romantic? Debatable. Efficient? Dierks says yes.
So what sparked the split-bed lifestyle? The man’s got a sleep routine that would stress out a NASA engineer. “Three” pillows need to be positioned “just right”.
If his wife so much as “breathes” wrong, he’s up like a prairie dog in hunting season. “I’m such an animal,” he admitted. “Cassidy’s been sleeping on the couch or in the guest room. We’re trying to fix that.”
But despite the unconventional setup, the love is clearly still strong. They’re plotting a big 20th anniversary adventure — possibly hiking Kilimanjaro — which sounds like a decent leap from separate duvets to summit-level intimacy.
For the record, Bentley insists this bedroom arrangement actually improves his performances on the road. Sleep-deprived Dierks? He’s apparently more emotional, more gravelly, and “more real” on stage. “Sometimes I find myself crying… talking about my dad,” he said. You can’t buy that kind of authenticity — though you “can” buy his $131 Amazon bed setup (dog not included).
So to all the fans worried about trouble in paradise: relax. This isn’t a divorce — it’s just “independent suspension”.
